On behalf of the Alzheimer Society of Perth County, I wish to extend a HUGE thank you to the people of Perth County for supporting our 17th anniversary Soup’s On.
Over 3,200 people came out on a beautiful winter day to sample soups created by local amateur and professional soup-makers.
This event is only possible through the tremendous support of our local community. We thank our major sponsors: TD Friends of the Environment, The Rutherford Group and Timmermans’ Elevators; soup vendors who made the soup, Perth Care for Kids for running our Kids Korner, our other generous sponsors and silent auction donors as well as our talented musical performers, Chris Adair and friends.
Thank you to the event committee, staff, our emcee Eddie Matthews from CJCS Radio, and to the 130-plus volunteers who helped.
A big congratulations to our winners: In the amateur category, Physiotherapy Alliance for the Best Hearty Soup, Soups By Shayne for the best Creamy and VON Perth County for the Best Vegetarian Soup.
In the Professional category, the Best Hearty Soup goes to the Stratford Country Club, the Best Creamy goes to Molly Blooms (two years running) and the Best Vegetarian went to the Rivergarden Residence.
The People’s Choice award went to the Slow Food Market for their Cream of OMG mushroom soup.
The numbers are still being crunched, but we are pleased to announce that over $43,000 was raised. Proceeds will go to enhance programs and services for the over 1,600 individuals in our community living with a diagnosis of Alzheimer disease or a dementia.
Thanks again to the Perth County community, this really is the best place to live and work.
