On Jan. 15, the Tavistock Titans Bantams Local League team travelled to Plattsville to take on the second-place team in what the coaches considered their best game of the Grand River season.

After going down 1-0 at 7:79 of the first period, Tavistock roared back 22 seconds later with a nice passing play from Evan Goforth and Bryce Yantzi to Jason Winhold for the tie.

In the second period, Connor Biernaskie intercepted a pass and sent a nice shot past the Plattsville goalie. With less than four minutes left in the third and trailing 4-2, Eric Gimbel fired one from the point that got Tavistock back in the contest.

With just over two minutes remaining to play, Eric Stewart blasted in the tying goal from Cheyenne Pletsch and Jake Wagler. Devon Carney was outstanding in net for Tavistock.

One-goal victory

On Jan. 18, the Tavistock Bantams – who are sponsored by Yantzi Feed & Seed - Crescent Ridge Services – hosted Beverly and emerged with a 3-2 win.

Titans’ goal scorers were Clayton Darlington, Bryce Yantzi and Hayden Ramseyer. Assists went to Eric Gimbel, with two, and Clayton Darlington, Jack McGrath, Hayden Ramseyer and Jason Winhold with singles.
