Best Western Peewee MD Warriors get tie, win on weekend

Stratford’s Best Western The Parlour Historic Inn and Suites Peewee MD team played back-to-back games this past weekend.

In regular-season play Saturday night against Sarnia Sting, Warriors came away with a 1-1 tie.

It was a hard-fought game, with Sarnia opening the scoring in the first period. The play went back and forth with many chances at both ends until the third period when Stratford scored their only goal from Nathan Ferguson with assists going to Liam Westman and Peter Williams.

Call-up Declan Rintoul played a great game. Stratford is currently in a tie for first place in the West MD League.

Stratford 4 - Mitchell 2

In exhibition action in Mitchell Sunday night against the Mitchell Peewee A-E team the MD Warriors skated to a 4-2 victory.

The teams traded goals in the second period, with Anthony Gioia scoring an unassisted goal.

In the third, Warriors broke the contest open with three goals. Nathan Ferguson scored from Liam Westman, then Peter Williams connected from Cole McKay and Ferguson, and Owen Brooks from Connor Franke.

Call-ups Rintoul and Jeremi Carman played great throughout the game.
