Nationals rained out in season opener

Rainy weather forced the cancellation of the Stratford Nationals season opener on Saturday.

The game against the host team the Oshawa Dodgers was called off before a single pitch was thrown due to rain. The game is expected to be rescheduled and will be announced in the near future.

However, other IBL teams were in luck on Sunday as two of three scheduled season openers went ahead, with the Toronto Maple Leafs defeating the Barrie Baycats 3-2 and the Guelph Royals smothering the Hamilton Thunderbirds 13-2. The game scheduled in Kitchener, between the Panthers and the Brantford Red Sox, was postponed due to wet field conditions. A make-up date will be announced shortly.
