Swimmers excel at Aqua 7 meet

Stratford swimmers competed at the Aqua 7 finals at the University of Guelph on Saturday, where the SKYAC boys took the league title for high points.

SKYAC girls placed second in high points. Stratford was second overall, with a margin of only three points separating them from the St. Thomas Jumbo Jets.

Breaking an Aqua 7 final meet record, with a time of 1:10.11, Jesse Anderson, 13, placed first in 100m back and 100m free and third in 200m IM.

Madelaine Duff, 12, had a golden day, placing first in 100m IM, 50m free and 50m fly. Emma Wylie, 10, placed first in 50m breast.

Scott Laing, 17, placed first in 100m breast and had second-place finishes in 100m free and 50m fly.

Lauren Manders, 12, won the 50m breast and placed third in 50m fly.

Owen Bolhuis, 12, won silver in the 50m breast and 50m fly, while Lauren Halliwell, 12, placed second in 50m breast. Paul Szirmay-Kalos, 10, finished second in 100m IM and 50m back and third in 50m free. Jacob Matthews, 17, placed second in 100m back and third in 100m free.

Bronze medal winners included Lena Bryan, 10, in 50m back, Lars Dijk, 13, in 100m breast and 50m fly, Nicholas Dolan, 11, in 100m IM and 50m breast, Emma Rouse, 6, in 25m back and Carly Sutherland, 14, in 100m breast.

The Aqua 7 final meet wrapped up the season for that league. The next meet is Hollandia in London this weekend.
So far this season, five SKYAC team records have been broken.
