The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 8 Stratford was honoured and proud to have participated in the Stratford Canada Day Celebrations. We wish to say thank you to those who joined us for “Support The Troops Breakfast at the Legion” with $2 for each breakfast going to the “Troop Morale Fund.” It was a great start to the day and provided $260 for the fund.
Our table behind City Hall, attended by Legion Members and Air Cadets, was very well received.
Many informative and pleasant conversations took place and it was great to everyone from toddlers to seniors wave those maple leaf flags handed out at the table. Additional contributions were made to the Troop Morale Fund were made here and at the Branch and added to the breakfast donations.
This means that nearly $500 will be forwarded to this very worthwhile cause.
The parade in the evening included a float carrying veterans, members of the Ladies Auxiliary and members from the Army, Navy and Air Force Association of Canada Unit 261 and of course Cadets from the three city Cadet Corps. This float was greeted with strong applause and appreciation.
The Legion wishes to say thank you to all our volunteers, the city centre committee and to the parade organizers and especially to the citizens who attended these events. Reflecting on the sights and sounds of Canada Day in Stratford we can all truly say Oh Canada We Stand on Guard for Thee.
