U9 boys lose heartbreaker to Orangeville Storm 5-4

The Stratford Hiller Royal Lepage U9 Strikers lost a heartbreaker 5-4 against the undefeated league-leading Orangeville Storm in Orangeville on Tuesday night.

The winning goal was awarded to Orangeville with less than five minutes to play via penalty kick on a what Stratford coaches considered a “travesty” of a call by the referee.

In a great game featuring the two top teams in the SWRSL, the Strikers pushed the Storm to the limit and were unfortunate not to claim at least a point.

Will Thibeault led the way with two goals, Isaiah Duiker played a great game, scoring one while setting up another and ringing one off the goal post, while Evan Falardeau continued his excellent play scoring once.

Bradley Kraemer, Edi Mena and Hayden Cavender were superb defensively against the dangerous Orangeville team, who have dominated their opponents all season. Evan Moorehead set up a goal and played a terrific game both offensively and defensively. Joe Yundt was solid in the Stratford goal.
