Stratford Area Deaths
Ryan AlbrechtRyan William Albrecht, 17, of Stratford, died while swimming at Grand Bend on July 23. He was born in Stratford and was a student at Central Secondary School. He loved music and many sports including hockey, lacrosse and biking. He is survived by his parents Kathy and Roger Albrecht and his brother Brandon as well as his grandparents Dave and Carol Koch and Ruth Albrecht and his great-grandmother Lois Bart. He was a special friend to Brittany and her family. He was predeceased by his grandfather Lester Albrecht, aunt Beverly Koch and cousin Hailey Eckhardt. Visitation was at the W.G. Young Funeral Home on Thursday, July 31 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 2 p.m. Interment in Avondale Cemetery.
William (Bill) GarrardWilliam Garrard, 81, a resident of Hillside Nursing Home, died July 27 at Stratford General Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Elizabeth (Jo) née Grills, son Russell (Rose) Garrard of Burlington and daughter Leslie ( Dan) Allan of New Hamburg. A private family service was held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home.
Marjorie Isabel LathamMarjorie Isabel Latham nee Lillico, 81, died Wednesday, July 23, at Stratford General Hospital. Born and educated in Ottawa, she was a daughter of the late Collin Lillico and Eunice Whyte. She was a lifelong member of the United Church, a CGIT leader, a Women's Institute member and a member of the Perth Regiment IODE. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ronald Latham, and her children Neil Latham and Paula (Luigi) Civiero. Visitation will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A private family service will be held.
William (Bill) SuttieWilliam Suttie, 86, of Stratford, died at Victoria Hospital, London, on July 27. He is survived by his son Carman. He was predeceased by his wife Flora in 2003. A funeral service was held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home. Burial in 2nd St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wartburg.
Maree StoskopfMaree Stoskopf, 97, of Stratford, died at Cedarcroft Place on July 25. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Radiant Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #134 and the Festival City Kiwins. She was predeceased by her husband Carl in 1996. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Margaret and Marie Stoskopf and Dorothy Scott, by three nephews and three nieces and godchild and caregiver Gloria and Bernie Lawrence. A funeral service was held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home.Interment will follow in Sebringville.
Edith VogtEdith Mary Vogt, 95, a longtime resident of Greenwood Court, Stratford, died in the presence of her daughter, friends and staff on Sunday, July 27. She was born in England and immigrated to the United States as a young child. She worked as a bookkeeper for over 60 years and came to live in Stratford in 1994. She is survived by her daughter Sheila Gustafson, her granddaughter Jonika Paulson and her great-granddaughter Isobel Scholten as well as her stepdaughters Florence Forbes, Marjorie Pereno and Jeane Ford, and her sister Millicent England. She was predeceased by her husbands Walter Wallace, William Wyllie and Eugene Vogt, by her sister Hannah Nelson, and her stepdaughters Dorothy Rose and Ruth Newhouse. A memorial service will be held at Greenwood Court, 90 Greenwood Drive, Stratford, today, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. with reception to follow
