Stratford Area Deaths
Linda Karkheck
Linda Jean Karkheck, 54, of 489 Brunswick St., Stratford, died Aug. 7 at Stratford General Hospital. Born in Stratford, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Marie (Place) Karkheck. She is survived by her husband Bruce Dolson and her children Angela Steckley of Mitchell and Kristy Dolson of Motherwell. At Linda’s request, there was no funeral home visitation or service. Final arrangments by the Heinbuck Funeral Home.

Wilfred Francis Laverty
Wilfred Francis Laverty, 86, formerly of RR 1, Sebringville, died Aug. 6 at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton. He was born in Ellice Township, a son of the late Peter Laverty and the former Bridget Hourigan and had farmed all his life at the family farm, RR 1 Sebringville, until he moved to Knollcrest. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Stratford. He was predeceased by his wife Teresa (Givlin) in 1995 and by his daughter Bernadine Nicholson in 2001. He is survived by his sister Sister Mary Laverty, IBVM, Toronto, and a son-in-law Ron Nicholson, RR 1 Sebringville, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and their families. Visitation was at the W.G. Young Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church. Interment in Avondale Cemetery.

Darryl Van Den Tempel
Darryl Arthur Van Den Tempel, 21, of Poole, died suddenly on Aug. 7. He was born in Stratford and had lived all of his life on the family farm in Poole. He attended Mornington Central Public School, Milverton Public School, Stratford Northwestern Secondary School and in 2007 graduated from Funeral Service Education at Humber College, Toronto. He was a funeral director with the W.G. Young Funeral Home. He was a member of the Poole Mennonite Church family, a member of the Stratford Black Swan Rugby Team, and had played baseball in Millbank and hockey in Stratford and Milverton. He is survived by his parents Ted and Liz Van Den Tempel, and his siblings David and his friend Lauren McBride, Thea, Sofia, Derek and Benjamin. Special friend of Katie Roth.  Visitation was at the W.G. Young Funeral Home. A funeral service was held at Poole Mennonite Church. Burial in Poole Mennonite Church Cemetery.
