Harry Joseph BettsHarry Joseph Betts, 92, died Aug. 13 in Penticton, B.C. He was born in Stratford, a son of the late Louisa Smith and Joseph (Harry) Betts. He had been a lineman with Ontario Hydro until his retirement. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #8 Stratford and the Masonic Order A.F and A.M. He was also an officer in the Canadian Air Force and served in the Second World War. He is survived by his wife Anne Betts and daughter Charlette (Mel) Knoll of Penticton, son David Betts of Rona, Australia, stepsons in Penticton, and sisters Nel Green and Rose Billo of Stratford. He was predeceased by his parents and his first wife Thelma (Calcott) Betts. Burial has taken place in Penticton, B.C. Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice through the W.G. Young Funeral Home. Stratford.
Gregor CampbellGregor Campbell, 60, of Seaforth died Aug. 28 with his wife by his side. He is survived by his wife Sheila Mullin-Campbell, his son Michael Mullin and his sister Sharon O’Carroll and her husband Doug of Toronto. He was predeceased by his parents Gord and Glad Campbell. A celebration of life service was planned at the Box and Smith Funeral Chapel, Seaforth, on Sept. 4 at 10 a.m.
Mima Martha FarrMima Martha Farr, 94, died Aug. 25 at Stratford General Hospital. She was born in Mitchell, a daughter of the late George and Lillian Riley. She was a member of St. Stephens Anglican Church, Stratford. She was the wife of William T. Farr who predeceased her in 1988. She is survived by her sons Harold and Gail Farr, Belleville and Paul Farr, Stratford. Besides her parents and her husband she was predeceased by a son Ronald Farr and two daughters Lois Lewis and Linda Deem. A funeral service was held at W.G. Young Funeral Home. Interment in Avondale Cemetery.
Paul Joseph McNamaraPaul Joseph McNamara, 51, of Toronto, died Aug. 26 as a result of an accident. Born in Belleville, he was a son of the late Rae McNamara. He is survived by his mother Marjorie (Murray) Skinner and stepfather Vernon Skinner, brothers Jesse McNamara of Vancouver, and Basil McNamara of Toronto, and sister Susan Du Bray of Toronto. His life was his music. He was a founding member of the rhythm and blues band “The Nationals” of Toronto. There will be no funeral home visitation. Interment in Avondale Cemetery at a later date. Final arrangements by the W.G. Young Funeral Home.
Ben MullerBernd “Ben” Muller, 65, of Stratford, died Aug. 24 while waiting for a liver transplant at the Kingston General Hospital. Born in Karlsruhe, Germany, he was a son of Trudl (Ziegler) Frank and the late Richard Muller. He was employed with the Stratford Public Health Unit for many years. He is survived by his wife Valerie (Gribble) Muller whom he married in 1965 and by his children Kristine Muller and her partner Richard Carr, and Paul Muller and his partner Courtney Graham. A memorial service was held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home
Inez SolomonInez Evelyn Solomon, 88, a resident of Mitchell Nursing Home and formerly of Elgin Crescent, Stratford, died Aug. 28. She was born in Ellice Township, the daughter of the late John H. Doell and the former Lydia Schneider and had lived most of her life in Stratford. She was a member of St. John’s United Church. In 1984 she was predeceased by her husband Elmer Clayton Solomon. She is survived by her children Sharon and her husband Wayne Ische, Mitchell; Phyllis and her husband Jim Robertson, Stratford; Fred Solomon and his wife Sue, London; and Sheila and her husband John Daneluzzi, Dresden. A funeral service was held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home. Interment in Avondale Cemetery.
