BLYTH – This fall, Blyth Festival is offering two opportunities for students in its Theatre-for-Young-Audiences program.
New Canadian Kid by Dennis Foon, a show for young students in grades 4-8, will be presented in Blyth Memorial Community for four performances on Oct. 14 and 15 at 10:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.
New Canadian Kid is the story of Nick, a young boy from an imaginary country called Homeland who moves to Canada with his family. There, he is forced to grapple with his fears of a new culture and language, as well as hostile classmates who taunt him for being different. The play is produced by the students in the theatre department of John F. Ross C.V.I., Guelph.
Younger students in grades JK-3 will be delighted when Duf?eBag Theatre returns for two performances of interactive story-telling theatre on Oct. 23. This year’s presentation is the classic tale of Robin Hood. Since 1992, the “Nearly World Famous” Duf?eBag Theatre has become one of the most celebrated companies at festivals and schools across the country. The unpredictable nature of their performance provides a truly unique theatrical experience where the dream of living a fairy tale actually does come true, states a press release.
For the past 13 years the Blyth Festival has been presenting a special Theatre-for-Young-Audiences production in October.
