The ninth annual Restorative Justice Luncheon will be held at Avon Mennonite Church on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
The event will take place from 12:30 to 2 p.m. This year’s guest speakers are Paul Emeny and Taylor Feltz, who both have participated in a restorative justice conference and wish to share their experiences.
“We have seen restorative justice gain greater acceptance and become a valid choice when dealing with conflict in the world,” said JayJ McKinley, diversion program co-ordinator, in a press release.
“Together we are better able to develop a common vision of the essentials of a safe and healthy restorative justice process and that is paramount to contributing to building restorative communities wherever we find ourselves – at home, in school, in our neighbourhood, city, town, province, country, and world.”
Nov. 16-22 is Restorative Justice Week in Canada and throughout the world. Restorative justice means making things right again in the aftermath of a crime. This year’s theme is Fostering a Restorative World View, acknowledging the fact that the restorative justice paradigm – which embodies principles, values and initiatives – is a living, growing, dynamic movement that challenges Canadians in their thinking and their doing.
Tickets are $10 and can be obtained in advance until Nov. 11 by calling 519-271-9454 ext. 234.
