Stratford flutist Jan Searle, accompanied by pianist Carol Smith, will be performing a benefit concert Saturday night at Central United Church.
The musicians are presenting the concert in an effort to help Community Living Stratford and Area recover from a break-in at the Eileen Langley Centre on Sept. 17. Thieves broke into the centre and stole about $2,000 of disability allowances and money earned from part-time work by the mentally and physically challenged people who use the centre. They also stole a number of electronic devices such as their Nintendo Wii video game machine, a DVD/VCR player, and a digital camera.
The concert will feature a variety of music. The program will include light Classical, Romantic, Spanish, and traditional Scottish and English folksongs.
The event gets under way at 7 p.m. at the church which has donated the space for the concert.
Central United Church is located at 194 Avondale Ave.
There will be a freewill offering at the door. All proceeds from the concert will go to Community Living Stratford.
